I worked with Luis Rojas as Operations manager for a period of two years at AsureQuality, an animal diagnostics manufacturing facility. Luis managed the Quality department under which fell the facility’s cleaning and sanitation methodology. In that time I observed Luis systematically assess the effectiveness of the program in place, document his findings, develop, validate and implement a robust documented alternative. I particularly remember his understanding and selection of bactericidal, sporicidal and viricidal agents to attain and maintain clean room state. One thing that I miss is the enthusiasm and vigour that Luis brings to his work.

Luis Rojas owned the facility cleaning and maintenance program at a large scale GMP clinical manufacturing facility (Biotech Manufacturing Facility – BMF) CSL, Melbourne. The plant required a robust cleaning, gowning and environmental monitoring program to maintain various classifications (from Grade D to Grade A) and a state of low bioburden. He managed the cleaning schedule, recycling, rubbish collection, log book maintenance and labels used in cleaning activities, stocking of all cleaning agents & tools and personnel training to ensure the plant was well equipped to carry out cleaning whenever required. He ensured activities were carried out in a compliant and on-time manner and responded with agility to once-off requests for extra cleaning before tours or after accidents. His team was always willing to improve their service through a high engagement with Continuous Improvement and listening to their customers.

Although met with some challenges during the Yarra Trams refurbishment project, Luis managed the assessment regarding the scope of work needed and was diligent and thorough managing the contractors.
